AI help for small business, minus the hype.

Most small business owners have tried AI once, got something generic back, and gone back to doing it by hand. I help you work out where it actually saves time in your business, set it up properly, and show you and your team how to use it. Plain English, no commissions on the tools, and an honest answer when AI is not the right fix.

What you actually get

Three jobs. Take one, or all three. Most people start with a conversation and go from there.

  • AI consultation

A sit-down about how your business actually runs, and where AI would save real time versus where it would just add another tool to manage. You leave with a short list of what to try first, and what to ignore.

  • AI training

Hands-on sessions for you or your team, using your own work rather than made-up exercises. How to ask for what you want, how to check what comes back, and what never to paste into a chat window.

  • AI setup

The right accounts set up properly, in your name. Saved instructions that know your business and your tone, templates for the jobs you repeat, and the tools connected to the email and files you already use.

How it works

  1. Show me where the time goes

Quoting, emails, admin, rewriting the same thing every week. I want to know which jobs are eating your hours before anyone talks about tools. Some of them AI is good at. Some of them it is not.

  2. Pick one job and set it up

One task, done properly, beats ten half-tried tools. I set up the account and the instructions for that one job and get it working on your real work, not a demo.

  3. Train you on it, then build from there

I show you, or your team, how to use it and how to check it, and leave written notes so it does not depend on remembering what I said. Once that job is running, we pick the next one together.

How AI actually works for a small business

Strip away the hype and the tools most businesses need are writing assistants that have read a great deal. That makes them very useful for some jobs and risky for others. Knowing which is most of the skill.

  1. It is very good at first drafts

Emails, quotes, job write-ups, policies, social posts, replies to reviews. Anything where you know what you want to say but the blank page costs you twenty minutes. You still read it before it goes out.

For example: A tradie who writes up every quote from scratch could keep the scope notes, let AI draft the wording in their own tone, and spend two minutes checking it instead of twenty writing it.

  2. It is good at summarising and sorting

Long documents, supplier terms, meeting notes, a month of enquiries. It reads quickly and pulls out what matters, which makes it a decent first pass on anything you would otherwise skim.

For example: A bookkeeper might hand it a forty-page contract to get the five clauses worth reading properly, then read those five themselves.

  3. It is confidently wrong sometimes

It does not know your business unless you tell it, and it will fill a gap with something plausible rather than admit it does not know. That is why every setup I do includes how to check the output, not just how to get it.

For example: A price, a date or a compliance rule written by AI would need checking every time — it reads just as sure of itself when it is wrong.

  4. Where your information goes matters

Free personal accounts and business accounts handle your data differently. Client details, health information and anything confidential belong in a business account with the right settings, or nowhere near it.

For example: A clinic would want a business plan with training on its data switched off before anyone pasted in a single patient note.

Who this is for

  • Owners who tried ChatGPT and stalled

You had a go, got something generic back, and went back to doing it by hand. Usually the tool was fine. It just did not know anything about your business, and nobody showed you how to tell it.

  • Small teams where admin eats the evenings

If the writing, quoting and inbox work happens after hours because the day is spent doing the actual job, this is where AI earns its keep fastest.

  • Not for replacing staff

If the plan is for AI to run the business or replace someone, I am the wrong person to ask. It makes good people quicker. It does not make judgment optional.

Common questions

Do I need to be good with computers?
No. If you can write an email you can use these tools. The hard part is not the technology, it is knowing what to ask for and how to check what comes back, and that is what the training covers.
Which AI tools do you recommend?
Whichever one fits how you already work. If your business runs on Gmail and Google Drive, Gemini is already sitting inside it. For general writing and thinking work I currently lean towards Claude, and plenty of people are happy in ChatGPT. That will change, and I will tell you when it does.
Do you get commissions from the tools you recommend?
No. I have no affiliation with any AI company and take no referral fees. If a free tool does the job, I will tell you to use the free tool.
Is my business information safe?
It depends on the account and the settings, which is exactly why it is part of the setup. Business plans from the major providers let you keep your data out of their training, and I set them up that way. What I will not do is have you pasting client details into a free personal account.
What does it cost?
There are no packages. The first call is free, and after it I quote for what your business actually needs — a single training session, a setup, or both. Most of the tools themselves cost about the same as a phone plan per person, and some jobs need nothing beyond a free account.
Can you train my whole team?
Yes. Sessions work best in small groups using your own documents and jobs. I can come to you around Mandurah and the Peel region, or run them remotely anywhere in Australia.
Can you put an AI chatbot on my website?
Sometimes, but it is rarely where I would start. A chatbot answering customers on your behalf needs good information behind it and someone watching what it says. For most small businesses, fixing the website so people can find the answer themselves comes first — that is web design or website support.
Is this the same as AI SEO?
No. This page is about using AI inside your business. Showing up in Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT answers is part of getting found, and it sits under SEO.
Will AI replace my staff?
Not the way it gets sold. What it does well is take the repetitive writing and sorting off people so they can do the parts that need a person. I have written more about what it will actually do to your workload.
