Henry Engineering

A specialist engineering supplier moved off WordPress to a fast, secure Astro and Snipcart store — with the entire existing product catalogue imported across to the new platform.

WordPress to Astro + Snipcart Migration

Henry Engineering had been running their online store on WordPress, but the usual WordPress headaches — plugin updates, security patches, performance issues and the cost of keeping it all stable — were getting in the way of actually running the business. They wanted a faster, more secure store that didn’t demand constant maintenance.

We rebuilt the site on Astro and integrated Snipcart as the checkout layer. Astro handles the front end as a fast, static-first site with no database or admin login to attack, while Snipcart drops in as a lightweight cart and checkout that handles payments, orders and customer data securely in the background.

The Challenge

Henry Engineering needed to migrate an established product catalogue off WordPress without losing any of it — and end up with a site that loads quickly, ranks well, and is genuinely cheaper and easier to run long term.

Our Solution

  • Full product import — every product from the existing WordPress store was migrated across so nothing was lost in the move
  • Astro front end — static-first architecture for fast page loads, strong SEO and a minimal attack surface
  • Snipcart checkout — a secure, hosted cart and checkout that handles payments and orders without a database on the site itself
  • Mobile-first design — the store works cleanly on phones, tablets and desktops
  • Lower ongoing overhead — no plugins to patch, no admin login to harden, no monthly maintenance bill for keeping WordPress alive

Why Astro + Snipcart

One of the real strengths of this stack is flexibility. You can launch as a catalogue site first — just product information and enquiries — and then layer Snipcart in later to turn it into a fully transactional store, without rebuilding the platform. For clients who aren’t sure whether they’re ready for ecommerce yet, that’s a much lower-risk path than committing to a heavy ecommerce platform up front.

The Results

  • Faster, more secure store with none of the WordPress maintenance baggage
  • Complete product catalogue preserved and live from day one
  • Lower ongoing running costs with no plugin licences or patching overhead
  • A platform that can grow as Henry Engineering’s online business expands
